AIEEE exam 2011 dates details and counselling

What is AIEEE exam 2011

In present day’s entry to all the leading institutes has now been made through respective entrances irrespective of the field of engineering, medical or management because of rising competition. The main motive of these entrance examinations is just to pick the best students among the thousands. Engineering design is a very powerful tool to make changes to environment, society and economies, and its application brings with it a great responsibility. Engineering is quite different from science. Scientists try to understand nature. Engineers try to make things that do not exist in nature. Engineers stress invention. AIEEE is the examination for students after crossing their schools those students who are interested in engineering stream can appear in this exam.

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. Introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive test is for admission to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, including 30 prestigious National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The examination is held in the last Sunday in April and results are announced near the end of May. Candidates are ranked on an all-India basis and also according to their position in state. Thus, they have an All India Rank (AIR) and a state rank (SR).
Students opting for B.Arch. are tested in mathematics and an aptitude test. Students opting for B.Tech. are tested in physics, mathematics and chemistry. The duration is 3 hours but maximum marks and the number of questions vary every year. Equal weight is given to all the three sections.

Scope of AIEEE exam
Reposing Faith in organizational capacity and technical infrastructure of the NIT system, the MHRD has decided to entrust the task of conducting the AIEEE to NITs themselves starting from 2008-09 session itself.
Earlier, the counselling procedure was dealt by a Central Counselling Board (CCB) based at New Delhi. The important decision to this effect was taken by the MHRD on the advice of the NIT Director’s meeting who had unanimously advocated transferring of the responsibility for CCB of AIEEE counselling to NITs.
Every year director of a NIT will be the chairman of the CCB along with the selected directors of other institutes in the counselling board.
The NITs will conduct the counselling and assume the responsibility of setting question papers as well from the year 2010. Similar to the conduct of the IIT-JEE and counselling by one of the six IITs in the country every year on a rotation basis, one among the 20 NITs in the country would be made a nodal agency for the conduct of AIEEE every year.
Paper pattern

Entrance examination would consist of two papers i.e. 1st paper consisting of three parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of equal weightage with objective type questions for BE/B.Tech courses and 2nd paper – consisting of Mathematics,Aptitude Test and Drawing for B. Architecture and B. Planning. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness.
Scoring and Negative Marking

There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet. The candidates are advised not to attempt such item in the answer sheet if they are not sure of the correct response. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked. All objective type questions are required to be answered on specially designed machine gradable answer sheets. Answers are to be marked using ball point pen (black/blue) only. For the purpose of evaluation, Test Booklet Code as printed in the Answer Sheet on Side-2 will be accepted as final.

Subject combination for each paper & type of questions in each paper are given in the table below :
