What is BMS ?
Bachelor of Management Studies has been particularly planned in order to produce middle cadre management personnel. This course promises to give an exhaustive training with the help of latest gadgets, industrial visits, and practical experience and summer placements wherever is possible.
This course was introduced by the University of Mumbai in the year 1999. With the growing demand for professionally qualified management executives, the course has been especially designed to create middle cadre management personnel.
This course helps in the development of undergraduate students into managers and leaders who will be able to take the rigors and challenges of the global marketplace. This course has become very popular among the students of India because of the ever-increasing requirement for a large number of professionals trained middle management executives in the contemporary market.
It is a three-year degree course, with six semesters, managed by a full-time and visiting faculty drawn from the Industrial and Service sectors. The College is committed to providing in-depth training using the latest equipment in computers, practical experience, industrial visits and summer placements, wherever possible.
BMS Scope
After successful completion of the BMS on can pursue any one of the different courses like management oriented courses including MBA and MMS, non-management oriented courses like CA, mass communication, etc. An individual, after the successful completion of Bachelor of Management Studies can opt for a career in Human Resource Management, Sales & Marketing. Beyond this one can also opt for the Jobs in PSU banks, Finance, Research & Development, etc.
BMS Eligibility and Examination
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for admission to the Degree Course in Management Studies, a candidate shall have passed the H.S.C. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent, with Mathematics as one of the subjects, and secured not less than 45% marks on the aggregate (40% for backward), at the first attempt plus cleared the CET conducted by the University of Mumbai.
BMS EXAMINATION and results
i) The examination shall be conducted at the end of each Semester.
ii) A theory paper shall carry 100 marks. The evaluation of the performance of the students in theory papers shall be on the basis of both internal assessment (40%) and semester examination (60%). Internal evaluation shall be on the basis of class assignment, group discussions, seminar attendance etc. The Semester end examination shall be held at the end of each Semester and shall be of 2hours’ duration.
iii) The responsibility of evaluation during the first 4 Semesters shall rest with the College/ Institution wherein the students are admitted for the course. The College/Institution shall carry out the internal evaluation for theory papers in Semesters V & VI while the University shall conduct the Semester-end examination for these two Semesters. The Internal evaluation marks of students appearing for Semester V and VI shall be sent to the University by the respective College/Institution before the commencement of the respective semester-end examination.
iv) The evaluation of Projects I & II shall be carried out by the examiners appointed by the University inclusive of viva-voce examination. The project reports shall be assessed for 60% of the total marks while the viva-voce examination shall carry 40% of the marks.
Fees
The total fees, including deposit and laboratory fees, as prescribed by the Mumbai University, are as follows:
F.Y.B.M.S. Rs.17,050/- (approx.)
S.Y.B.M.S. Rs.16,080/- (approx.)
T.Y.B.M.S. Rs.15,310/- (approx)
Note: The Reserved Category Candidates (i.e. SC, ST, VJNT, DT, and SBC & OBC) will be entitled to exemption of certain fees as prescribed by the Government, subject to submission of necessary documents along with the application form, to be held eligible for such concession.
