Film and Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII-Pune)
Film and Television Institute was established in 1960 and it had started running its course since 1961. Firstly its training wing was functioning in Delhi but was later shifted to Pune 1974 and since after that the institute became fully aided by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Pankaj Rag is the present Director of Film and Television Institute of India. It is situated in the premises of the erstwhile Prabhat Film Company in Pune, India. The Institute is approved by the Government of India and is also recognized by AICTE in order to offer high quality education to the candidates. The Institute also sustains well established contacts with the top edged industries that lead to 100% placement of the candidates.
The FTII is well-equipped with the most up-to-date equipment and provides various facilities like computer, internet, training and also various sports and games to the candidates. Students initially work with the low-end equipment and gradually get to use the advanced equipment through demonstrations and individual practicals. On one hand there are two Films studio floors wherein they have cameras for film shooting and video cameras and on the other hand were two Television studios. The Institute has a film and a video library with a good collection of films and videos from all over the world which in return attracts large number of candidates. Admission into this Institute is done on the basis of Entrance Test Conducted by the University that will be held on 1st week of May, 2011 the candidates need to crack the exam to get into the desired course for starting their career under this institute.

One year Post graduate certificate in:
• Feature film screenplay writing Rs.85, 000 per year

• TV Engineering Rs.85, 000 per year

Admission
The admission is based upon the entrance exam which is generally held in the 1st week of May, 2011. The last date for submission of completed application forms are generally in the last week of June 2011 and the entrance exam would be held in 1st week of August, 2011.
Application forms should be filled up correctly in all respects to avoid their being rejected after that all applicants will receive an email giving each of them a Username and password for accessing information relating to the status of their admission process.
Candidates applying on the printed Application form should clearly write on the envelope the name of the course he/she has applied for. Application complete in all respects should reach the

Candidates should note that the Institute will make no allowances for postal delays while receiving completed admission forms from the applicants.
For those candidates who apply on-line should send their declaration and mention their full name and course applied for at the back of the crossed demand draft of Rs.2, 000/- drawn on any of the branches of State Bank of India or any Nationalised Bank, payable at PUNE. Drafts should be made payable to ACCOUNTS OFFICER, FILM AND TELEVISION INSTITUTE OF INDIA, PUNE. Remittance in cash, postal orders or cheques will not be accepted.
No application will be accepted without the Demand draft received at the Institute.
Job Prospects:
The television and film industry is the most booming sector and which is tremendously expanding. The field of TV and Film making is highly competitive having a lot of scope for employment opportunities especially in India which releases a large numbers of films every year and casts daily programmes in TV channels. It has been seen that the money and work are the two most phenomenal aspects in this industry. There various fields under which a person can work visual mixer, Director, Floor Manager, Script Writer, Editor, Videotape Editor, Music Composer, Camera person, Soundman, Researcher, Lighting Crews, Assistants etc. in a studio, production companies, advertising agencies etc.
Once the person has proved himself/herself can earn no limit of amount but which will depend on the education and experience, type of work, duration of the time etc. the remuneration of the producers and directors vary but producers get a percentage of show’s earning.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Candidates must have completed graduation / bachelor’s degree from the recognized University to be eligible for this course.
• Candidates must have completed 10+2 level with Physics as the mandatory subject to be eligible for some of these courses.

If you check the educational background of many celebrities you will find that they have pretty good academic record. The basic eligibility for technical course is 10+2 and if you see it for other courses it is graduation which is considered to be necessary.
