GATE 2012 exam was held on Sunday 12 February. GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an exam for admission in top technical colleges across India, for post graduate programs like M.Tech. The GATE exam is of 3 hours duration and consists of 65 questions having mulitple choice answers. The paper is thus of objective pattern. The other two papers AE and TF have multiple choice questions and Numerical answer type. The GATE exam deducts marks for every wrong answer and so a candidate has to be careful while marking his answers. The negative marking in GATE exam can lead to more wrongs than rights so students should refrain from guessing answers. There is also a General Aptitude section which carries 15 marks.
