ICET (Integrated Common Entrance Test) 2010-2011

Every year many students appear for the ICET Exam to get admission in the best of colleges of Andhra Pradesh. ICET is conducted in around 20 cities across Andhra Pradesh and the candidates can mention their preference in the application form. ICET (Integrated Common Entrance Test) is a competitive entrance exam for all the graduates to get a seat to do masters like MCA or MBA. ICET is conducted for admissions into 1st year of MBA / MCA in 21 universities and their affiliate colleges. In terms of orders issued by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the proceedings by A.P. State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad, applications are invited for appearance at the integrated Common Entrance Test for admission into 1st year MBA/MCA Degree Course for the academic year 2011-2012 in well known universities and their affiliated colleges offering MBA/MCA Programme.

Popularity of Integrated Common Entrance Test of Andhra Pradesh:
This common entrance test is considered as one of the toughest exam that candidates have to face for their upcoming future under various colleges of Andhra Pradesh. Each and every year candidates are filling the forms and paying higher attention towards this integrated test.  ICET test is amongst the best choices for the students to get Andhra’s top colleges for MCA and MBA. Candidates have to secure at least 25% marks in the entrance test to qualify foradmission through the test.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ICET

a) The candidates should be Indian Nationals and should satisfy local/non-local status requirements laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission) Order, 1974 as amended upto date (as per G.O.Ms.No. 25, dt: 19.03.2004 & G.O.Ms.No.108, Higher Education Department, dated 30-7-2005 and its amendments).
b) The candidates other than Indian Nationals should satisfy the rules of the Universities concerned
c) A pass (or) appearance at the final year examinations of Bachelor’s Degree (Except BOL and BFA) of any University in Andhra Pradesh or any other University Recognized as equivalent thereto.
d) The candidate seeking admission into MBA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than three years duration from any recognized University or equivalent thereof besides passing SSC or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
e) The candidate seeking admission into MCA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level (or) should have passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
f) The candidates who are appearing for the final year degree examination shall also be eligible to appear for ICET-2011
g) Admission into any college depends on its Recognition/Affiliation by the Statutory Bodies.
h) Qualifying marks in ICET-2011 is 25% and no minimum marks are prescribed for SC/ST candidates.
Mere qualification in the entrance test does not entitle a candidate to have been admitted into MBA/MCA course unless the candidate:
i) appears before the ‘on-line counseling’ at any of the Counseling Centres as notified
ii) applies in response to the admission notification issued by the authority concerned (for distance mode)
iii) satisfies all the eligibility conditions of admission stipulated by the authority concerned

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS

Duly filled-in application forms (placed in the envelope supplied) may be submitted along with relevant documents by paying postal charges through the Head Post Offices to The Convener, ICET-2011, Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam – 530 003 (A.P.) India on or before 05-04-2011 upto 5.00 p.m. The application forms may also be submitted on or before
19-04-2011 upto 5.00 p.m. along with a late fee of Rs.500/-
24-04-2011 upto 5.00 p.m. along with a late fee of Rs.2000/-
in the form of DD drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of The Secretary, APSCHE, payable at Hyderabad. Application forms received after the specified date and time and incomplete application forms will be summarily rejected.

Syllabus

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The test is designed to measured the candidates ability to think systematically, to employ the verbal and mathematical skills and to assess his/her aptitude for admission into MBA/MCA programme. The Test emphasis accuracy. Therefore, the candidate is required to go through the instructions carefully. This is an objective type test. Questions are of multiple choice, Out of the given multiple options, the candidate has to choose the correct answer. The Candidate shall not give more than one answer to any question. Such answers will be ignored while awarding marks.

SYLLABUS :

GENERAL INFORMATION: 200 Questions(200 Marks;Time:150 min)

Section-A: Analytical Ability: 75Q(75M)

1. Data Sufficiency: 20Q(20 marks)

A question is given followed by data I the form of two statements labelled as I and II. If the data given in I alone is sufficient to answer the question then choice(1) is The correct answer. If both , I and II put together are sufficient to answer the questions but neither statement alone is sufficient then choice(3) is the correct answer. If both I and II put together are not sufficient to answer the question and additional data is needed then choice(4) is correct answer.

2. Problem solving 55Q(55M)

a) Sequences and series 25Q(25marks)

Analogies of numbers and alphabets, completion of blank spaces following the pattern in a:b:c:d relationship; odd thing out; missing number in a sequence or a series.

b) Data Analysis 10Q(10M)

The data given in a table. Graphs Bar diagram, pie Chart, Venn Diagram or a passage is to be analysed and the questions pertaining to the data are to be answered.

c) Coding and Decoding problems: 10Q(10M)

A code pattern of English Alphabets is given, A given word or a group of letters are to be coded or decoded based on the given code or codes.

d) Date, Time & Arrangement problems: 10Q(10M)

Calendar problems, clock problems, blood relationships, arrivals, departures and Schedules ; seating arrangements, symbols and notation interpretation.

Section-B Mathematical Ability: 75Q(75M)

I. Arithmetic Ability: 35Q(35M)

Laws of indices, ratio and proportion; surds; numbers and divisibility, I.e.m, and g.c.d; Rational number; ordering; Percentages; profit and loss; partnerships, pipes and cisterms, time, distance and work problems; areas and volumes, mensuration, modular arithmetic.

II. Algebrical and Geometrical ability: 30Q(30M)

Statements, truth tables, implication, converse and inverse, tautologies-sets, relations and functions; polynomials; remainders theorem and consequences; linear

Equations and inequations; modulus; quadratic equations and expression; progressions; progressions; binomial theorem , matrices notion of a limit and derivative.

Plane geometry-lines, triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles,coordinate geometry-distance between points and applications. Equation of a line in different forms.

Trigonometry- Trigonometric ratios of standard angles(0,30,45,60,90,180 degrees); Trigonometry identities; simple problems on heights and distances.

III. Statistical Ability:

Frequency distribution, mean , median, mode, standard deviation, correlation, simple problems probability.

Section C – Communication Ability: 50Q(50M)

Objective of the Test

Candidates will be assessed on their ability to

1. Identify vocabulary used in the day-today communication.
2. Understand the functional use of grammar in day to day communication as well in the business contexts.
3.Identify the basic terminology and concepts in computer and business context(letters, reports,memoranda,agenda, minutes etc).
4. Understand written text and draw inferences

Part 3. Functional Grammar 15Q(15M)

Part 4. Reading Comprehension(3 Passages) (15M)

ICET RESULTS

a) Qualifying Marks for ICET- The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test 25% (i.e. 50 marks out of total 200 marks). However, for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes, no minimum qualifying percentage of marks is prescribed.

b) Ranking :Candidates will be given State-wide ranks in the order of merit at the ICET . For the preparation of merit list, in case more than one student scores the same ranks at ICET, the tie will be resolved as follows:

(i) By considering the marks scored in Section-A

(ii) If the tie persists, marks obtained by a student in Section-B will be taken into consideration.

(iii) If the tie still persists, the tie will be resolved by taking into account the age of the candidate giving the older candidate priority.

c) Rank obtained in ICET is valid for admission into MBA/MCA Course (Full Time / Part Time / Evening / Distance Model of all universities in Andhra Pradesh for the academic for the preceeding year only.

d) Evaluation : Every care will be taken to avoid errors in the evaluation, checking, scrutiny, tabulation and ranking. However, request for re-verification will be entertained on payment of Rs.1000/- by D.D. drawn in favour of the Convener, ICET-2011 (payable at Visakhapatnam drawn on any Nationalized Bank), within fifteen days from the date of declaration of results. After this date no request will be entertained.

e) Rank card will be sent to the candidate by post. Duplicate Rank Card will be issued on payment of Rs.50/- by D.D. drawn in favour of the Convener, ICET-2011 payable at Visakhapatnam drawn on any Nationalized Bank.
