What is IIBF

Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), formerly known as The Indian Institute of Bankers (IIB), is a professional body of banks, financial institutions and their employees in India. With its membership of over 700 banks and financial institutions as institutional members and about 300000 of their employees as individual members, IIBF is the largest Institute of its kind in the world and is working with a Mission “to develop professionally qualified and competent bankers and finance professionals primarily through a process of education, training, examination, consultancy/counseling and continuing professional development programmes”. The Institute is managed by a Governing Council comprising eminent persons from the banking and finance sector, academicians and professionals.

What is JAIIBF and CAIIBF

JAIIB Exam aims to provide maximum knowledge about the Basic Banking and financial systems, banking technology, customer relations, basic

accountancy and legal aspects necessary for carrying out day to day banking

operations.

whereas CAIIB Exams are helpful for the Banking Personnel . To take CAIIB exam you should have passed Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (JAIIB) exam. CAIIB aims at providing advanced knowledge necessary for better decision

making covering risk, financial and general bank management.

Scope

  • To facilitate study of theory & practice of banking and finance.
  • To test and certify attainment of competence in the profession of banking and finance.
  • To collect, analyse and provide information needed by professionals in banking and finance.
  • To promote continuous professional development.
  • To promote and undertake research relating to Operations, Products, Instruments, Processes, etc. in Banking and Finance and to encourage innovation and creativity among finance professionals so that they could face competition and succeed.

Eligibility

The Examination is open only to the ordinary members of the Institute

who are in employment of the Institutions which are Institutional

Members of IIBF provided individual and institutional subscription is

not in arrears. New members are advised of the examination for which they are eligible

to appear while intimating their respective membership numbers.

Candidates must have passed the matriculation examination or its

equivalent. The Institute may, however at its discretion, allow any candidate

from clerical or supervisory staff cadre to appear at the examination

on the recommendation of the Manager of the bank / officer-in-charge

Fees

The time limit for passing and fees for examinations is modified with effect from examinations to be conducted in the year 2008 onwards as under :

The dates for the elective subjects of CAIIB as separate certificate examination will be 13th February, 2011 and the last date of receipt of application will be 26/11/2010. Since the examination of all elective papers will be conducted simultaneously, candidates can apply for only one elective paper at a time. Fees for this will be Rs1000/- per subject attempt and passing marks will be 50.
